Led by principal architect Archana Gavas, we design zero-carbon farm retreats, eco-resorts, food forests, and wellness sanctuaries globally, blending permaculture and biophilic design to restore ecosystems.

Our architectural studio integrates natural building materials, climate-resilient engineering, and syntropic agroforestry to construct buildings that work with nature. Sustainable Resort & Farm Retreat Design

We design boutique eco-resorts, wellness sanctuaries, and homestays that offer low-impact, high-experience stays. Our designs prioritize locally sourced stone, lime plaster, bamboo, and rammed earth to match the natural landscape. We collaborate with developers to construct resorts that generate zero waste, harvest 100% of rainwater, and run on solar energy.

Natural Building Craft & Vernacular Architecture

Anvitam is committed to reviving ancient Indian construction techniques, such as red oxide flooring, lime plaster, mud walls, and traditional terracotta tile roofs. We show how alternative building materials outperform modern concrete in keeping buildings cool, reducing carbon footprint, and enhancing occupant health and indoor air quality.

Syntropic Agroforestry & Food Forests

We design multi-layered food forests and syntropic agroforestry systems that provide organic food security and restore biodiversity. By replicating native forest structures, we create self-sustaining agricultural ecosystems that require minimal irrigation and zero chemical fertilizers.

Biophilic Design Philosophy & Archana Gavas

Led by principal architect Archana Gavas, Anvitam is built on the core philosophy of biophilic and regenerative design. We do not just build structures; we design environments that foster a deep connection between human occupants and the natural world. Our design workflow analyzes solar paths, local wind patterns, and hydrological maps of the site to craft spaces that remain naturally cool in hot summers and warm in winters, minimizing reliance on mechanical heating and air conditioning systems.

Vernacular Earth Building & Natural Plasters

We specialize in using locally sourced building elements like clay, straw, lime, stone, and bamboo. Our architecture studio actively replaces toxic industrial materials such as cement plasters and synthetic paints with breathable alternatives like lime plasters, mud renders, and natural oils. These materials are not only fully biodegradable but also regulate indoor humidity and air quality, creating healthier, non-toxic living environments for families and guests.

Global Eco Architecture Studio based in Nadiad & Vadodara

While our physical studio is located at Santram Mandir Road in Nadiad, Gujarat, we consult on sustainable developments, food forests, and eco resorts globally. Overview & Concept

Odiyar Farm & Homestay - Permaculture & Farm-Stay Landscape Design

Odiyar Stays and Farms is an existing homestay-and-farm-stay property with a homestay, cafe, polyhouse, plantation areas, and open farmland. The project focused on providing design consultation and guidance to help the owner develop the existing land into a more connected and experiential farm landscape.


Design Challenge

  1. The site already had several components, but they needed to work together as one landscape.
  2. The challenge was to establish clear zoning across the open farm land, connect key areas through pathways, improve access, and introduce different plantation zones while retaining the site's existing character.
  3. The design also needed to be practical enough for the owner's own team to execute.


Permaculture & Landscape Approach

  1. The approach focused on understanding the existing site before deciding where different activities and plantations should go.
  2. Rather than treating the farm as one large open area, the land was planned into distinct zones with different purposes and planting strategies.
  3. The proposed landscape included a Butterfly Garden, additional plantation zones, a polyhouse area, and connected pathways between the cafe, homestay, and farm areas.
  4. This created a landscape that could support both the farm-stay experience and the site's ecological character.


Landscape Zoning

A major part of the consultation was developing a clear zoning strategy for the open farm land.

  1. The land was planned around a Butterfly Garden and several additional plantation zones, each intended for a different type of planting.
  2. This approach creates variety across the property while making the larger farm easier to navigate, manage, and experience.


Pathways & Site Circulation

  1. A circular pathway was planned to connect the cafe, homestay, polyhouse, and Butterfly Garden.
  2. The pathway was considered only after establishing the broader site zoning, ensuring that circulation followed the functional relationships between different parts of the property.
  3. Entry access and connections to lower areas of the site were also considered, including a safer route to the water tank and soak pit with appropriate steps or ramp access and a handrail.


Polyhouse & Private Outdoor Spaces

  1. The existing polyhouse area near the homestay was considered for repositioning and repair.
  2. The landscape planning also included creating a small, private outdoor corner nearby, giving guests a more intimate space within the larger farm-stay environment.


Consultation-Led Design

  1. The project was structured as a design consultation rather than an execution contract.
  2. The process included site surveys, analysis of site and climate conditions, written recommendations, visual moodboards, and practical instructions for the owner's site team.
  3. The owner's own staff and contractors remained responsible for construction and implementation, allowing the design guidance to be translated directly into work on site.


Design Outcome

Odiyar Farm & Homestay demonstrates how an existing farm-stay can be developed through permaculture-inspired landscape planning, clear zoning, and connected pathways. By organizing the farmland into different plantation areas and integrating the homestay, cafe, polyhouse, and nature-focused spaces, the project creates a more cohesive landscape experience while supporting the property's agricultural and hospitality functions.
